The defense of the president of Pastef / Les Patriotes, Ousmane Sonko, is engaged in another legal battle. The opponent’s lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court. According to Les Echos, which provides the information, they are still challenging the first president of the Dakar Court of Appeal.
In their request, concerning the Prodac case, postponed to March 30, they ask that another magistrate be appointed in place of the judge of the Correctional Chamber, Pape Mouhamed Diop. The reason is given: legitimate suspicion. Indeed, the camp of the president of Pastef understands that the magistrate in question is a relative of Mame Mbaye Niang.
This new request follows their request filed on the table of the first president of the Court of Appeal, at the time Ciré Aly Bâ, challenging the correctional judge. A request that was ultimately rejected.
Ironically, the source notes, it is the same magistrate Aly Ciré Ba appointed the First President of the Supreme Court, during the meeting of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM), who will rule.
